Deadly accident on board of the Dutch bark Willem en Karel on the Groot Noordhollands Kanaal, Netherlands according to the Dutch newspaper Heldersche en Nieuwedieper Courant dated Sunday 2 October 1864

An item dated Den Helder, Netherlands the 1st reported a dreadful accident on the Groot Noordhollands Kanaal on last Wednesday. The Dutch bark ship Willem en Karel captain Steenveld was underway from Amsterdam towards and intended to berth near the Stolperburg that evening to continue the voyage the next morning. A boat of her with 3 men on board however capsized killing two men. The boat was underway with the cable to the shore.
