More torpedo boats available for the defence of Hong Kong according to the Dutch news bode Java-bode dated Friday 18 December 1885

An item referred to the newspaper Straight Times which reported that the number of torpedo boats for the defence of Hong Kong was to be increased from four to ten and of which eight boats were of the 1st class. At Singapore was men unsatisfied with this decision while there was even not a single torpedo boat 1st class for the defence available. The complaints were that Hong Kong as a war harbour always has more resources for her defence as Singapore had.
