Dutch ship Loevestein transported troops to the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Samarangsch advertentie-blad dated 8 January 1858

An item reported the arrival on 29 December 1857 at Batavia, Dutch East Indies of the Dutch ship Loevestein captain Vonck with a detachment of 200 non-commissioned officers and soldiers commanded by infantry captain Rijkens accompanied bt 2nd infantry lieutenant Van Briem and 2nd engineer lieutenant Leers. During the voyage died 2 men underway and one in the harbour of Batavia. On the 30th was the detachment disembarked and marched to Weltevreeden.
