Dutch ship Grootmeester Nationaal transported troops to the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper De Oostpost dated 19 November 1857

An item reported the intended departure from Harderwijk, Netherlands on 5th October of a detachment non-commissioned officers and soldiers to embark on the 6th at Rotterdam, Netherlands the Dutch ship Grootmeester Nationaal captain A.F. Giesse bound for the Dutch East Indies. The detachment was commanded by captain of the Dutch East Indies infantry W.A. Asmus accompanied by 2nd infantry lieutenants J.F. Rausch en N.J. Tiedeman and officer of health3rd class J.W. Ravesteyn Medemblik.
