Dutch ship J.C. Tromp transported troops to the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Samarangsch advertentie-blad dated 8 January 1858

An item reported the departure by a detachment of 150 non-commissioned officers and soldiers on the 6 November 1857 from Harderwijk, Netherlands and embarked on the 7th at Rotterdam, Netherlands the Dutch ship J.C. Tromp bound for the Dutch East Indies. The detachment was commanded by major of the Dutch East Indies infantry K.T. van Steijn van Hensbroek accompanied by 1st infantry lieutenant J.F.J. Strengnart, 2nd engineer lieutenant R.O. Heijligers and officer of health 3rd class J.W. Ravestein Medemblik.
