Dutch frigate Zr.Ms. Zaan via Brazil underway towards the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated 25 April 1837

An item dated Middelburg, Netherlands the 24th referred to a letter dated 2nd February of captain A. de Monyé commanding officer of the Dutch frigate Zr.Ms. Zaan reporting that he left Den Helder, Netherlands on 24 December 1836 and arrived on 1 February at Rio Janeiro, Brazil.(1)

1. Frigate 2nd class, laid down at the navy yard of Amsterdam by P. Schuijt jr. 1825, launched Saturday 23 July 1831, served also in the Dutch East Indies, already in worse condition in 1842, sold -while lying in the dock on the navy yard at Willemsoord, Netherlands- in the tavern Nieuwe Heeren-Logement of the widow H.G. Ihnen, Nieuwdiep, Netherlands on for ƒ 16.600,00 to M. Rezel of Nieuwediep, to be broken up on Tuesday 10.00 o‘clock 19 November 1850, dimensions 46,21 (loadline) x 11,91 (inner hull) x 5,17 (fore)-5,74 (aft) x 6,41 (depth below main deck) metres, displacement 1.422-1.460 tons and an armament of 44 guns (30 short 30 pd guns, 20-30pd guns and 2-8pd guns).
