Dutch ship Kosmopoliet transported troops to the Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 7 March 1857

An item reported the arrival in the afternoon of the 6th at Batavia, Dutch East Indies of the Dutch ship Kosmopoliet with on board a detachment of 176 non-commissioned officers and soldiers commanded by infantry captain Dekker accompanied by 2nd infantry lieutenant of the Dutch army Aithon, 2nd artillery lieutenant Beibel and 2nd cavalry lieutenant Lenkering, the latter two both of the military academy at Breda, Netherlands  and officer of health 3rd class Cochius. The detachment would disembark in the afternoon of the 7th. It consisted mainly of soldiers earlier belonging to the so-called British Foreign Legion (2)who behaved excellent on board. None was even punished.

1. Source Staat der Nederlandsche Zeemagt en Koopvaardij-vloot op 1 Januarij 1864 mentioned a clipper frigate, captain J. Koning (earlier Bouten), Dordrecht no. 14-flagged, owned by Gebr. Blussé, tonnage 753 tons, built in 1854 and homeport Dordrecht, Netherlands.
