An item reported the arrival at Willemstad, Curacao on Sunday the 8th of the Venezuelan steam warship Bolivar commanded by M.J. Armas coming from Maracaibo. On board was the governor of the state Maracaibo general J. Sutherland.(1)

1. Jorge or George Sutherland (Maracaibo, Venezuela 1823-Curacao 1873) , president of the Independent state Zulia (the former province Maracaibo) since 22 April 1864, in 1866 known as the Republic Zúlia. Sutherland was forced to fled to Curacao where he became owner the plantation Groot Piscadera.
