British sloop HMS Elk arrived at Prince of Wales Iland, Malaysia according to the Dutch newspaper Java Government Gazette dated 23 March 1816

An item reported the arrival at Prince of Wales Island [Penang Island. Malaysia] in December 1815 of the British sloop HMS Elk commanded by J. Reynolds coming from Malacea.(1)

1. Brig sloop of the Cruizer-class, fir-built, launched at the shipyard of Barnard, Deptford, England on 22 August 1804, broken up 1812, a 382 tons builders measurement and an armament of 18 guns.
