British sloop HMS Pearl bound for China according to the Dutch newspaper Middelburgsche Courant dated Tuesday 31 March 1840

An item dated London, England the 25h reported that on last Monday the British corvette HMS Pearl left Chatham towards Portsmouth from where she was bound for China. With a crew of 160 men consisted her armament of 20 long 32pd guns. Further more was she to take 2-42pd guns on board. The Goessche Cournt dated 6 April reported that she bound for the West Indies.(1)

1. A sloop, England launched at the shipyard of Sainty, Wivenhoe, England on 17 March 1828, her completion was cancelled on 11 July 1825, resumed however on 23 February 1826 and finally broken up in June 1851.
