Spanish warship fired at American schooner Flash according to the Whalemen’s Shipping List dated Tuesday 7 June 1864

An item reported that a Spanish men of war fired twice at the American schooner Flash captain Gray on 26th April 7.:45 while off Isabella Bay underway from St. Martins towards Baracon, Cuba. Further more was she next boarded by an officer accompanied by six marines who took her papers for examination to his commanding officer. Afterwards were the papers given back and was the American schooner allowed to continue her voyage arriving on the28th at New York, USA.
