British East India Company in problems in Bengal according to the Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder courant dated 17 January 1766

An item dated London, England 1st reported that that there were rumours since the last few days that the British East India company suffered problems in Bengal. The Nabob seemed to defeat the British which could not leave Colcota. Two East Indiamen who entered the waterway of Bassora [Basra, Iraq?]were captured and plundered.
