British screw steam gunboat HMS Firebrand departed Batavia, Dutch East Indies towards Singapore according to the Dutch newspaper Java-bode dated 24 July 1888

An item dated Batavia, Dutch East Indies 24^th reported the departure of the British steam warship Firebrand captain Denison towards Singapore.(1)
