Dutch warship Haas or Gekroonde Haas 1652-1653

Of the admiralty Zealand, fluyt ship hired in 1652-1653, dimensions 112 x 24 x ?, height verdeck 5½ feet, an armament of 22-27 guns and a crew numbering 80-109 men. Admiralty minute dated 16 April 1653: agreed payment 160 pond Flemish as compensation to Nicolas Janssen, was commanded by Johannes [elsewhere called Johan and Joannes] Michielssen. In July 1653 destined for Brazil but added to fleet with Tromp, called Gekroonde Haas. According to the admiralty account for 1652: monthly rental price 900 pond Flemish, bookholders Gillis Thijssen and Nicolaes Janss Wael. Departed on 26 October 1652 from Vlissingen, Netherlands with the Middelburg cruising off England, 80 sailors, 25 soldiers, homeport Vlissingen.
