Italian bark Essemplare and Norwegian bark Mississippi tried without success to pass Anjer, Dutch East Indies according to the Dutch newspaper Rotterdamsch nieuwsblad 26 January 1887

An item dated Sam arang, Dutch Easy Indies 15 December 1886 reported the passing on the 10th of Anjer [nowadays Anyer, Indonesia] by the Italian bark Essemplare coming from Bangkok, Siam and the Norwegian bark Mississippi coming from Batavia, Dutch East Indies both bound for the Channel. In Sunda Strait were the forced by the rough weather to return to seek a shelter.
