French emperor refused British assistance in transporting French troops towards China according to the Dutch newspaper De Tijd dated 6 October 1859

An item dated London, England 3rd reported that the British cabinet offered France to transport the 8.000 military towards China. France however friendly refused stating that French troops were to be transport on French ships. When the British cabinet reacted somehow amazed the French emperor said that he immediately would order the building of ships needed to replace the ones needed for the China expedition. Newspapers from Bordeaux, France reported the building of a large number of transports.
