The Spanish naval strength according to the Dutch newspaper Nederlandsche staatscourant dated 17 November 1859

An item referred to the French naval department newspaper Moniteur de la Flotte reporting that the Spanish navy consisted of 123 seagoing warships with a totally armament of 1.045 guns. The fleet consisted of 2 ships of the line, 10 frigates, 4 corvettes, 9 brigs, 16 goelettes, 15 sloops, 58 paddle steamships and 9 transports. Further more were the keels laid down for screw steamships, namely 1 ship of the line, 3 frigates, 2 corvettes and 2 goelettes.
