US Navy experimenting with gigantic flying boats according to the Dutch newspaper De Tribune dated 26 March 1935

An item dated Washington, USA 25th reported that the US Navy was experimenting for quite some time with two gigantic flying boats suitable for defence and attack tasks while it were in fact heavy bombers armed with heavy machineguns. Due to their armament they were nicknamed flying battleships. If the end results were satisfying would probably a new squadron be founded consisting of 30 of these flying boats.
