Dutch screw steamship 4th class Benkoelen in 1880 according to the Colonial Account [Dutch East Indies] over 1881

Iron built with wood planked, launched in 1879, draught 3,5 metres, armament of 4 guns, horsepower 90 nhp, maximum speed during a watch of 4 hours 6-7 geographic miles and a tonnage of 383 tons. Crew umber on 31 December 1880 75 Europeans and 24 natives and stationed at Ajeh. Arrived at Olel leh, Dutch East Indies coming from the Netherlands on 29 July 1880. Departed Olel leh on 30 July 1880 towards Onrust, Dutch East Indies, some machinery repairs between 9 August-27 September and arrived on 5th October at the station Northern Sumatra to replace the Sambas. 1. Iron-built wood-planked and zinced, on stocks at the shipyard of Ned. Stoomboot Mij, Fijenoord, Netherlands with yard number 106 on 5 April 1879, launched on 30 October 1879, departed the shipyard on 13 April 1880, commissioned on 21 April 1880, building costs ƒ  380.000,00, unsuccessful attempt to get rid of termites using steam and sulphur in 1885, served in the Dutch East Indies, dimensions 45-53,6 (over all) x 9 x 3,6 metres, a displacement of 850 tons, speed 9-9,9 miles with 487,5 hp at trial, coal bunker capacity 99 tons, sail area 742,6 square metres, horsepower 500 ihp, an armament of 4 guns (1885: 1-15 cm gun, 3-12cm guns) and a crew numbering 104 men (76 Europeans, 28 natives).
